In 2011, I began an adventure of a lifetime with a major career change to morning drive radio in my hometown of DC. After going through a tough time with a divorce and living the new life of a single mom with 2 young children, I was a little lost on what direction my career would take and still be able to care for my family.
Most of my career, was in marketing and public relations and working for media clients like MSNBC, Slate Magazine, The Washington Post and even had a chance to take a start up public, DC based Blackboard. When I first moved back to DC after college, I worked on Capitol Hill for a few members of Congress and it was an incredible experience and a great first job.
When my second child was born, I switched to more of an entrepreneurial life style working on my own clients in public relations and developed an online lifestyle magazine called CityShopGirl. That is when I met Tommy McFly, a mutual friend introduced us and we clicked immediately, when he moved to mornings at 94.7 Fresh FM, he asked me to join him.
It was a tremendous honor to be on the air in my hometown from almost 8 years but my favorite part of that job, if you even want to call it that, was being able to have a platform to connect with the larger DC community. Whether it is being a part of great concert events or participating in charity activities like our annual Wreaths America effort where we make sure every marker at Arlington National Cemetery gets a wreath at Christmas, it has been a great ride with amazing people.
The next adventure is unwritten but there are a ton of opportunities that I am pursuing .
