CityShopGirl Moves to Radio

I have some great news! Starting June 20, I will be on-air with my buddy and now partner in this new venture, Tommy McFly on 94.7 Fresh FM — The Tommy Show. Tommy is a rising star in the media and radio industry and thrilled to be part of his morning show team.
The show will mean early mornings for me! We start broadcasting at 5:30 am and on until 10 am. I am super excited about this new challenge and continuing my career in media on a CBS radio station, in a top 10 media market broadcasting to close to a million people in DC each morning!
The move means I will be scaling back a tad on CityShopGirl, we are still planning to publish to our 7,000+ loyal subscribers a couple times a week about what is happening with restaurants, shopping, spas and events in and around DC.

Holiday Gift Guide for Men
The Hour in Old Town Alexandria, Virginia is a great stop for the unique gift, selling vintage bar ware. Our favorite are these travel bar sets from the 1960s ($55-120) pair with your man’s favorite spirit.
For the college sport lover, the Dandelion Patch in Georgetown and Vienna carries serving platters with themes from over 40 universities ($55).
Skincando is DC based skin care company that makes an all purpose skin salve that works on dry skin, shaving burn, scars and wind burn. Buy one for your guy and a second one to an American serving in Iraq. The troops love how it soothes the too common sand flea bites and sunburn. Skincando covers shipping costs ($5-25).
We found this all purpose rugged waxed cotton messenger bag with leather trim for just under $100 and a leather bound 8 ounce flask for $35 at J Crew in Georgetown.
M29 is great stop for gifts for the modern man. For the iPhone/iPad carrying man, fingerless cashmere gloves ($115). We also love the cuff links from New Zealand based company Robert Charles ($60), colorful socks from Etro ($40) and the ultimate check list 1000 Places to See Before You Die Book ($65) – a few spots are in DC!
DC based t-shirt company Crooked Monkey sells edgy slogan and graphic shirts. Tees have been spotted on the TV shows Entourage and Glee as well as on Ryan Seacrest ($20-25).
He Emergency Kit by Ms. and Mrs. for the man on the go and small enough to keep in his car or messenger bag, stocked with essentials like a razor, stain remover, deodorant, breath mints, bandaids and Advil ($25).

The Dandelion Patch in Vienna, VA and newly opened Georgetown Park Mall location has a variety of gifts and stationary. Heidi, the owner, created an inventory of items that are unique to her store. I love these signs that come in different DC neighborhoods including McLean, Alexandria, Arlington, Washington and Georgetown. $39.
