Shopping in MidCity

The MidCity boutiques, galleries and restaurants will take their wares to the sidewalk this weekend, featuring performers and special events for their annual “Dog Days of Summer” sidewalk sale. This area at U and 14th Streets is one of DC’s most unique and dynamic retail zones. Specials from restaurants like Cork Market, Cakelove, and Birch and Barely, home decor sales from Home Rule and Pulp and great discounts from women’s retailers including Junction, Rue 14, Caramel and Miss Pixies. Be sure to check out Studio Theater’s prop and costume garage sale in which they sell the previous season’s stuff. Starting Saturday, Aug. 6 through Sunday Aug. 7. Brunch at El Centro

El Centro D.F. debuts their bottomless Tequila brunch this weekend with a menu comprised of unlimited morning cocktails, on both Saturday and Sunday. From11 am-3 pm brunch-goers are invited to order multiple servings of any of the featured brunch tacos, Mexican small plates and postres, as well as a bottomless selection of morning cocktails for an all-inclusive price of $35 per person (excluding tax and gratuity.) The prix fixe brunch menu includes Chicken Tinga Tamale con Huevos with guacamole and salsa; Egg, Bacon and Cheese Tacos; and Mexican Chocolate Waffle. Brunch can also be ordered a la carte as a light bite, and prices range from $4 to $12.95 for featured dishes. Cocktails from the bar include a variety of cocktails, such as the Michelada Tocino: a modelo especial with bacon, Worcestershire sauce, lime juice and chipotle salt and Bloody Maria and a choice of seasonal aqua fresca cocktails, made with one of 200+ Tequilas which are always available.
